Total Time: 30min
Yield: 4 Lachcha Parathas
Ingredients
2 Cup Whole Wheat Flour(Atta)
Salt to Taste
1 Tspn Oil
Ghee/Oil as needed
1 Cup Water or add as needed
Directions
- In a bowl; combine wheat flour, water & salt to make a dough. Drizzle oil on top to coat the dough & knead to a smooth ball(add little water if required). Cover with a damp cloth & let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
- Place the dough on a well floured surface & make 8 equal size balls from the dough. Take one dough ball & flatten it using your palm. Using a rolling pin roll each dough into a thin circular shaped parata on the floured surface.
- Evenly apply a thin layer of ghee on the rolled dough & dust some flour over it (this will help parata to have multi layers) as shown in the picture below.
- Start folding from one end & work towards the other end to make pleats as shown in the picture below.
- Roll the resulting dough from one end to form a circle as shown in the picture below.
- On a floured surface roll the dough into 6-inch diameter circle as shown in the picture below.
- Heat a tawa on medium high flame.
- Place the parata on heated tawa & once you see little bubbles, flip the parata & drizzle some oil on top. Flip again & drizzle some oil on the other side as well. Flip again & press with a spatula for a minute. Transfer to a plate.
- Serve laccha parata with palak paneer or butter chicken.
