Ingredients
1 Cup Yellow Moong Dal (Peasara Pappu)
1/2 Cup Ghee/Clarified Butter or add as needed
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/4 Tspn Green Cardamom(Ellachi) Powder
Directions
- Add sugar to a dry mixie jar & grind into a fine powder. Transfer to a bowl & add green cardamom powder. Mix everything well & keep aside.
- Heat a wide pan on a medium-low flame; add yellow moong dal & dry roast for 6-8 minutes or until golden brown colour. Turn off the flame & let it cool at room temperature.
- Add roasted moong dal to a dry mixie jar & grind into a fine powder. Add to powdered sugar & mix everything well.
- Lightly warm ghee in the same pan on a medium-low flame & turn off the flame. Pour warm ghee little by little to the moong dal mixture & make round laddus (yields 12-14 laddus).
- Serve moong dal laddu.
- Store it in an airtight container & stays fresh for 2 weeks at room temperature.
- You can also make laddus using 1/2 cup grated jaggery instead of sugar. Follow same steps but just add grated jaggery (instead of powdered sugar), moong dal powder to a dry mixie jar & blend into a smooth powder.
