Yield: 12 Burger Buns
Ingredients
2 Tblspn Active Dry Yeast
2 Eggs
4 Tblspn Butter, melted
1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
2 Cups Warm Water
7 Cups Bread Flour
2-3 Tspn Sesame Seeds(optional)
2 1/2 Tspn Salt
Directions
- Dissolve sugar & yeast in warm water in a mixing bowl. Let stand until yeast softens & begins to form a foam, about 5 minutes. Add salt, eggs, melted butter & mix well.
- Keep adding flour until you get a nice, soft dough that pulls away from the side of the bowl & isn't too sticky( if it is sticky add more flour to it).
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap for 1 hour to rise.
- After 1 hour(dough should double in size), punch the dough down & divide it into 2 equal halves.
- Take one half & divide the dough into 6 equal dough balls. Flatten each ball about 4-inch diameter with your palms & keep it aside.
- Line a baking tray with an aluminum foil coated with cooking spray & dust some flour on it.
- Arrange flattened dough balls on the greased tray about 2 inches apart; cover with a plastic wrap & let rise until doubled in size, about an hour.
- Preheat oven to 375F(190.5C).
- Remove plastic wrap from the dough balls.
- Brush 2 tablespoons of milk on top of each flattened dough ball & sprinkle sesame seeds on 2-3 dough balls(its totally optional, i sprinkled sesame seeds on 2 flattened dough balls just for the flavour).
- Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove the baking tray from oven & cool completely before serving.
- With these burger buns you can make chicken burger or veggie burger or any sandwich.
- Wrap the left over burger buns in a foil & stays fresh for 3-5 days at normal room temperature.
- You can also make dinner rolls using the same dough.
- You can also use all purpose flour instead of bread flour & the burger buns will still turn out just fine.
