1 Cup Rice Flour

For Stuffing
1/2 Cup Peanuts/Palli
1/4 Cup Jaggery/Bellam
2 Green Cardamom Pods
1/4 Cup Desiccated Coconut

Directions
- For stuffing; heat a pan & dry roast the peanuts on a low flame by stirring continuously for 3-5 minutes. Transfer them to a plate & let it cool at room temperature.
- Remove the skin of the peanuts & transfer to a dry mixie jar along with desiccated coconut, cardamom pods.
- Blend into a coarse powder & add jaggery. Blend it again for a second & keep aside.
- In a mixing bowl; add rice flour, salt, water & mix everything well.
- Heat a wide pan on a low flame & add the prepared batter. Stir continuously & add teaspoon of oil. Cook until batter thickens & holds shape as dough.
- Turn off the flame & transfer to a mixing bowl.
- Knead the dough when it is warm enough to handle & cover with a lid.
- Make small sized balls from the dough & apply little oil to your palms. Take one dough ball & flatten it using your fingers to a round disc.
- Place 1-2 teaspoons of peanut stuffing in the center & make pleats by pinching gently on the outerside of the dough.
- Bring all the pleats together & seal it at the top.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls & keep aside.
- Bring 1.25 cups of water to a boil in an aluminium pot or steamer (i used aluminium pot) on medium flame & tie a cotton cloth on top of the bowl.
- Now place the modaks side by side on the cloth & cover with a lid or steel bowl.
- Modaks are offered to Lord Ganesha.
