Yield: 12 Laddus
Ingredients
3 Cups Murmura/Puffed Rice
1 Cup Jaggery(Bellam), grated or chopped
1 1/2 Tspn Ghee/Unsalted Butter
Directions
- Heat a wide pan & dry roast the puffed rice on a low flame by stirring continuously for 3-5 minutes or until they turn crisp. Transfer them to a bowl & keep aside.
- In a wide pan add ghee/butter, jaggery & place it on a medium-low flame.
- Boil until jaggery melts completely by stirring occasionally & mixture starts to turn foamy.
- To check the right consistency of the syrup, add 2-3 drops of syrup in a bowl of water & it should form a soft ball.
- Turn off the flame & add roasted murmura.
- Mix everything with a spatula until murmura are coated well with the syrup (make sure not to crush the murmura while mixing).
- Once the mixture is warm enough to handle (if the mixture completely cools down you cannot make laddus out of it), take a small amount of mixture in your hand & make a round shaped laddu (yields 10-12 laddus).
- Serve.
Note: Store it in an airtight container & stays fresh for a month at room temperature.
