Ingredients
1 Cup Thick Fermented Dosa Batter1 Cup Poornam
Pinch of Baking Soda
Salt as needed
Oil for Deep Fry
Directions
- In a mixing bowl add thick dosa batter (Batter needs to be thick do not add water as shown in the picture below) baking soda & salt. Mix everything well with a spoon & keep aside.
- Take 2-3 tablespoons of poornam mixture in your hand & make it into a round shape ball.
- Repeat the process with remaining poornam & keep aside.
- Heat oil in a sauce pan/kadai on a medium flame & once oil is hot enough, dip each poornam ball into the dosa batter & drop them in oil ( Make sure poornam ball is coated well with the dosa batter from all sides).
- Fry them in small batches for 4-6 minutes or until golden brown & keep turning the poornalu with a strainer ladle while frying otherwise they get discoloured.
- Transfer them to a plate lined with paper towel to remove excess oil.
- Serve poornalu with a side of ghee.
- Poornalu are offered to goddess Lakshmi.
