Ingredients
2 Cups Poha/Atukulu/Flattened Rice (Medium or Thick)
3 Cups Water
1 Medium Sized Onion, finely chopped
1/4 Tspn Gingergarlic Paste
1/8 Tspn Turmeric Powder
2 Green Chillies, chopped
Salt to Taste
1/4 Tspn Cumin(Jeera) Seeds
1/4 Tspn Mustard(Avaalu) Seeds
Few Curry Leaves
1 Tspn Chana Dal (Chanaga Pappu)
1 Tblspn Cilantro(Kothmir) Leaves
1 Tblspn Oil
Directions
- Heat oil in a kadai or wide pan on a medium flame; add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chillies, chana dal & saute for a minute. Now add chopped onion & saute until they turn translucent.
- Add gingergarlic paste, salt, turmeric powder & saute for a minute.
- Meanwhile add water in a bowl & soak flattened rice for 2-3 minutes.
- Completely drain water & add soaked poha/flattened rice & mix everything well. Cook for 3-5 minutes on a medium-low flame by stirring occasionally.
- Turn off the flame & transfer to a plate.
- Garnish poha upma with cilantro leaves & serve.
