Directions
- Cut bread slices into small pieces & keep aside.
- Heat oil in a kadai or wide pan on a medium flame; add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves & let them splutter. Now add chopped onion, cashew nuts & saute for another 2 minutes or until onions turn translucent.
- Add gingergarlic paste, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder & saute for a minute
- Now add water, lemon juice, chopped tomatoes & mix. Saute for a minute.
- Now add bread pieces & mix everything well with a spoon (if bread upma appears dry you can sprinkle little water over bread pieces).
- Cover with a lid & cook for 1-2 minutes. Turn off the flame.
- Garnish bread upma with cilantro leaves & serve.
Note: Instead of bread pieces you can also toast the bread until golden brown on both sides & grind into a fine powder.
