Ingredients
2-3 Medium Sized Onions, finely chopped
1/2 Cup Chana Dal (Chanaga Pappu); soak in water for half an hour
Salt to Taste
2 Tspn Red Chilli Powder
1/8 Tspn Turmeric Powder
1/4 Tspn Garam Masala Powder
1 Tspn Coriander(Dhania) Powder
3/4 Tspn Gingergarlic Paste
2 Cups Water or add as needed
Few Curry Leaves (optional)
1 Tblspn Cilantro(Kothmir) Leaves, chopped
1 1/2 Tblspn Oil

Directions
- Heat oil in a sauce pan on a medium flame; add curry leaves(optional), chopped onions & fry until they turn translucent.
- Add gingergarlic paste, red chilli powder, salt, coriander powder, garam masala powder, cilantro leaves(reserve few for garnish) & saute for another minute.
- Now add soaked chana dal(before adding chana dal drain water completely) & mix everything well.
- Saute for 2-3 minutes & add water. Cover with a lid & cook for 15-20 minutes or until chana dal turns soft.
- Finallly garnish with cilantro leaves & turn off the flame.
- Serve hot with rice or roti.
Note: You can also use spring onions instead of onions.
