Pepper Chicken Fry

Ingredients

500 Grams Chicken, bone-in or boneless; cut into medium sized pieces
1 Medium Sized Onion, chopped finely
2-3 Green Chillies, slit on one side (optional)
1/2 Tspn Turmeric Powder
Salt to Taste
1 Tblspn Gingergarlic Paste
2 Tblspn Black Pepper Powder
2 Tblspn Lemon Juice
1 Tspn Coriander(Dhania) Powder
1 Tspn Garam Masala Powder
2 Tblspn Cilantro(Kothmir) Leaves, chopped
1/4 Cup Water or add as needed
2 Tblspn Oil

Directions
  • Wash chicken pieces under running water & drain water completely.
  • In a mixing bowl add washed chicken pieces, gingergarlic paste, black pepper powder, lemon juice, salt, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder & mix everything well. 
  • Cover with a plastic wrap & place it in the refrigerator for 2 hours (refrigerate overnight for best results).
  • Heat oil in a wide pan on a medium flame, add green chillies(optional) & saute for a minute. Now add onion & fry until they turn translucent. 
  • Now add marinade chicken pieces & combine well. 
  • Cook for 5-10 minutes or until oil separates.
  • Add water & cover with a lid. 
  • Let it cook for another 15-20 minutes on a medium-low flame or until chicken turns tender by stirring occasionally (there shoudn't be any gravy, it should be dry).
  • Turn off the flame & transfer to a bowl. 
  • Finally garnish with cilantro leaves & serve as a starter or with roti or as a side dish for rice.
