Fish Pulusu/Fish Masala Curry

Ingredients

1/2 Kg Fish( i used salmon), cut into pieces
1 Medium Sized Onion
1 Tblspn Red Chilli Powder
1/2 Tspn Turmeric Powder
Salt to Taste
1 Tblspn Gingergarlic Paste
1/2 Lemon Sized Tamarind or add as needed, extract pulp
1 Tspn Coriander(Dhania) Powder
1 Tspn Dry Coconut Powder
1 Tspn Sesame(Til/Nuvvulu) Powder
1/8 Tspn Fenugreek(Methi) Powder
1/4 Tspn Cumin(Jeera) Powder
1/2 Tspn Cumin(Jeera) Seeds
1/8 Tspn Fenugreek(Methi) Seeds
2 Cup Water
2 Tblspn + 1 Tspn oil

Directions
  1. Wash fish pieces under running water & keep aside to drain.
  2. Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a wide sauce pan on medium-low flame & fry the onion till golden brown. Let it cool at room temperature before adding it to a mixie jar & grind it to a smooth paste. Set aside.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan on medium-low flame. Add cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds & let it brown. Add onion paste, gingergarlic paste & saute for a minute.
  4. Now add chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, coriander powder, coconut powder, sesame powder, fenugreek powder, cumin powder & saute for another minute.
  5. Add tamarind extract, water & cook for 10 minutes on a medium flame. Now add washed fish pieces & let it cook for another 10-15 minutes.
  6. Turn off the flame & serve hot with rice.
